Sudden Announcement of Joint Exercises at Myanmar Border by China

China, one of the world's major powers, has suddenly announced armed patrols and joint exercises in the air and on the ground along the Myanmar border. On Monday (August 26), the country's military reported this information. The news was reported by Reuters.

In a statement, the Chinese military said that these patrols will primarily be conducted in Ruili, Zhenkang, and other border areas.

There have been significant clashes in Myanmar's Kachin and Shan states, resulting in artillery shells landing on the Chinese side, causing some injuries and damage to resources. Additionally, this has negatively impacted China's infrastructure projects. This measure has been taken due to the escalation of conflicts between Myanmar's military junta and insurgents. The Chinese military's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Army units are being mobilized for rapid deployment, deterrence, and combat capability testing, as well as to maintain security and stability in the border areas. According to another statement from the Chinese military, armed exercises will be held on August 27-29 on the Chinese side of the China-Myanmar border. These exercises will take place in the areas south of Ruili, Zhenkang County, and around the autonomous counties of Zhengma Dai and Wa in western Yunnan Province. The internal conflict in Myanmar is negatively affecting the stability and social order on the China-Myanmar border. Beijing remains committed to restoring peace and stability in Myanmar.
