Since the clashes in Bhola city last Sunday, no police have been seen managing traffic in the city. For the past three days, the absence of traffic police has led to a state of disorderly traffic movement. As a result, traffic congestion has become a major issue since Tuesday morning, affecting the daily lives of residents.
Additionally, the police strike that began Tuesday morning has exacerbated the situation. In this context, members of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh in Bhola North have taken on the responsibility of traffic control from morning until evening.
The party's members have been seen managing traffic at various intersections wearing hats, long jubbas, and holding wooden sticks. They have been active at key points such as the Bangla School intersection, Kalinath Bazaar intersection, and the Ilish Fountain intersection, as well as on the city's Sadar Road. During this period, vehicles have been observed moving in an orderly manner following the rules.
Maulana Md. Tarikul Islam, General Secretary of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh Bhola North, stated that with the departure of the autocrat Sheikh Hasina, there is a sense of Eid joy among the people. Some opportunistic individuals are trying to create chaos in the country. This initiative is to preserve the freedom achieved through the blood of ordinary people.
Additionally, their party members are providing 24-hour guard to Hindu places of worship to ensure that Hindu community members can perform their religious duties and ceremonies without disruption. This, they claim, is in line with the teachings of Islam. However, they accuse the autocratic Awami League of repeatedly putting Muslims in confrontations with people of other religions, leading to these harsh consequences. They emphasize a collective desire to move Bangladesh forward as a safe and unified nation, putting aside all differences.
