NEW YORK (AP) — Nearly 20 years after its release, My Chemical Romance’s iconic rock opera The Black Parade is set to make a triumphant return. The band announced a special 10-date North American stadium tour for 2025, where they will perform the entire 2006 album, rekindling the theatrical and emotional essence that elevated them from emo icons to mainstream rock legends.
The tour kicks off on July 11 in Seattle and wraps up on September 13 in Tampa, Florida, making stops in major cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Arlington (Texas), East Rutherford (New Jersey), Philadelphia, Toronto, Chicago, and Boston. This highly anticipated tour comes on the heels of their recent headlining set at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, where they captivated fans with a nostalgic and energetic performance.
Each show will feature a unique opening act, ranging from rock veterans like Alice Cooper and Devo to popular alternative bands like Evanescence and Thursday. Emerging artists like 100 Gecs and Wallows will also take the stage, offering a diverse lineup for fans of all ages.
Formed in 2001, My Chemical Romance quickly gained a devoted following with their 2004 breakthrough album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. They released four studio albums before disbanding in 2013, followed by a greatest hits compilation titled May Death Never Stop You in 2014. In 2019, the band surprised fans by announcing their reunion, revealing that they had quietly reconnected two years earlier.
Originally scheduled for 2020, the reunion tour was delayed due to the pandemic and eventually took place in 2022. That year, they also released their first new song in nearly a decade, "The Foundations of Decay," signaling a new chapter for the band.
Tickets for The Black Parade tour go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time, giving fans a chance to relive the album’s anthems and celebrate one of the defining records of the 2000s.
