Reuters Survey: Harris Preferred Over Trump for Business

The U.S. presidential election is set to take place this November, with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump vying for the position. Analysis of the two candidates is ongoing worldwide. In Japan, Reuters conducted a survey to determine which of the two candidates might be more beneficial for business. The survey found that most Japanese companies consider Kamala Harris to be a better candidate than Trump.

Japan is a close ally of the United States, with thousands of U.S. troops stationed there and a substantial trade partnership between the two countries.

The results of the survey, released on Thursday (August 15), show that 43% of Japanese companies prefer Kamala Harris for corporate strategy and business, while only 8% support Trump. Meanwhile, 46% of companies believe that both candidates would be good, although 3% think neither is suitable.

A manager from a ceramic manufacturing company mentioned that a Trump presidency could lead to a renewed trade war and increased security threats.

During Trump's presidency, relations with Japan were strained, primarily due to trade tensions and Trump’s demands for increased military support.

An official from a chemical company stated that under Kamala Harris’s leadership, current policies are likely to remain in place, potentially leading to better results in the future.
