Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and Chairman of Meta, has claimed that the Biden administration pressured Facebook not to share certain content. He alleges that this pressure came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Zuckerberg made these statements in a recent letter sent to the House Judiciary Committee.
In the letter, Mark Zuckerberg says, "In 2021, senior officials from the White House and the Biden administration repeatedly pressured our team for months to censor specific COVID-related content, including humor and satire. They expressed significant frustration with our team when we did not comply."
Zuckerberg further adds, "I have told our team before and still say this: I believe we will not compromise our content under any administration's pressure or directives. We will operate according to our policies."
In July 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden stated that these social media platforms were killing people with misinformation during the pandemic.
Now, Zuckerberg has addressed this issue in a letter. He also notes that the FBI had warned them about this matter. He mentions that during that time, they were instructed not to release information regarding Hunter Biden and a Russian firm.
