Just a few days ago, they were out with sticks fighting for their rights, but now they are taking on a different role. Those who once wielded pens to build a better life are now working to create a cleaner city. Amid the ongoing unrest following the fall of the government, these students have stepped up to manage traffic and lead cleanliness campaigns.
For the second consecutive day, members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have been carrying out these campaigns in various parts of Chattogram. They have also been urging the public not to litter indiscriminately. The campaign started on Wednesday morning, focusing on different areas of the city. Additionally, they have been removing graffiti from various city buildings.
During the city tour, it was observed that the students were cleaning up garbage from the streets and managing traffic where there were no traffic police present. They were seen asking drivers to follow traffic rules.
At the Jamal Khan intersection, students from various institutions, including Fayruz, Kashfia, Muntaha, Tasfia, Munmun, Ramija, Zaiban, Maria, Shahjadi, Maimuna, Ayesha, Najiba, Wafeza, Saba, Fatiha, Offi, Nusaiba, Ishi, Subaida, Rafifa, Nisha, and Mushfiyah, were actively involved in the cleanliness drive. They stated that while students have previously fought to cleanse the country of its problems, they now want the country to function smoothly. In the current situation, they wish to support the general public. They believe that with widespread awareness, creating a beautiful country will be easier.
The students also mentioned that the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have called on students to stand by the general public. They have responded to this call, with several student teams working in various areas. They pledged to continue supporting the public to alleviate their hardships until a new government is formed.
Previously, they also conducted cleanliness and traffic management activities on the streets.
