Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has allocated responsibilities for various ministries and departments in the interim government. Among these, Dr. Asif Nazrul has been assigned to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs. On the order of the President, the Cabinet Secretary, Md. Mahbub Hossain, issued this notification on Friday, August 9.
Under the leadership of Nobel laureate economist Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the interim government consists of 17 members. The names of the 17 members were publicly announced on Thursday, August 8. Dr. Asif Nazrul is one of the 16 advisors.
Dr. Asif Nazrul was born on January 12, 1966. He is a professor in the Law Department at Dhaka University. In addition to his academic role, he is a writer, novelist, political analyst, constitutional expert, and columnist. Before joining Dhaka University, Asif Nazrul worked for a widely circulated weekly newspaper, *Bichitra*, in 1991. He has also served as a government official (magistrate) for a period.
He is frequently seen in various national and international media outlets, such as BBC, CNN, and Al Jazeera. He has worked as a consultant for international organizations focusing on human rights, rule of law, and environmental issues, including UNDP and ADB.
