Chief Advisor: Strict Action Will Be Taken Against Chaos

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has pledged to take stringent action against anyone spreading the poison of chaos. He stated, "Whoever spreads the poison of chaos now will be thwarted by the full strength of the victorious students, the public, and the law enforcement agencies." He added, "During our second liberation festival, conspirators have created an environment of chaos and fear to undermine this freedom. Chaos is our enemy. It must be defeated swiftly."

Dr. Yunus made these remarks in his address to the nation following his oath-taking as Chief Advisor on the night of Thursday, August 8.

Dr. Yunus said, "As our first duty, we will firmly suppress these conspirators. Our government’s primary promise is to ensure that everyone can breathe the free air of independence. We seek the cooperation of the nation in this regard. Secondly, our law enforcement agencies will also be part of this celebration of freedom. The army, navy, air force, border guard, police, Ansar, village defense, and coast guard will all be included. Each member of these agencies, like everyone else, is free from any extrajudicial oppression. If even one person is obstructed, our celebration today will be marred."

He continued, "The brutal, fallen authoritarian government had seized power using these institutions. We will restore the lost dignity of these institutions by thwarting that attempt. Those who have committed crimes under this nefarious attempt will face appropriate legal punishment. This applies to all ministries, agencies, educational institutions, and workplaces across the country. Every criminal will be brought to justice."

Dr. Yunus also noted, "Today, we remember and honor the martyrs and countless injured protesters of the anti-discrimination student movement who made our second independence possible. Without their daring sacrifice, courage, and ability to unite the country, this freedom would never have been achieved."

He added, "We also express our deepest gratitude and congratulations to the fearless members of the army, navy, and air force who have stood by the people and expedited this victory."

The Nobel laureate stated, "Today, each institution and its members will enjoy the benefits of our second liberation by fulfilling their duties. They will help elevate the country to the heights of glory and provide an opportunity for the nation and the world to enjoy. I urge everyone, on behalf of the nation, to move forward fearlessly and joyfully in their respective workplaces with their capabilities."

Dr. Yunus remarked that the student martyrs who gave their lives ensured that everyone in the country could live freely, without fear or anxiety. "The government formed through this upheaval is the government of everyone in the country. It will fulfill everyone's aspirations."

He concluded, "The cruel authoritarian regime has disappeared. With the sunrise, democracy, justice, and the full freedom of expression of human rights will be fully realized, and everyone will feel comfortable. Our goal is for all to enjoy the close support and compassionate touch of a government dedicated to providing opportunities for living, regardless of political affiliation."

He urged, "Help us achieve this goal. The whole world is today amazed, saying ‘Bravo Bangladesh! Bravo Bangladesh’s students and people!’ We want to advance this achievement further. Nothing is impossible for our student population if we remain united and stay away from destructive activities. We can create a free environment for everyone."
