Miss Denmark Wins 2024 Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico City.

The 2024 Miss Universe pageant took place in Mexico City on Saturday night, featuring over 120 contestants from around the globe. The winner? 21-year-old Victoria Theilvig of Denmark, who dazzled judges and audiences alike with her poise and elegance.

The competition, spanning over three hours, began with a swimsuit round, where 30 national titleholders showcased their style in bikinis or one-piece swimsuits. From this group, judges selected 12 contestants to advance to the evening gown segment. The stunning display of glittering, bedazzled dresses was accompanied by a surprise performance from Robin Thicke, adding a touch of musical flair to the event.

The field was then narrowed down to the top five finalists, who faced off in the highly anticipated Q&A round. The final verdict saw Victoria Theilvig crowned as Miss Universe 2024, taking over from the outgoing queen, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.

Chidimma Adetshina, representing Nigeria, was named the first runner-up, followed by María Fernanda Beltrán of Mexico in third place, Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri in fourth, and Venezuela’s Ileana Márquez in fifth. Adetshina's journey to the competition drew significant attention, as she initially aimed to compete in Miss South Africa. However, following a racially charged backlash, she pivoted to the Miss Nigeria pageant, where she emerged victorious.

This year’s Miss Universe pageant was not without its controversies. Mia Le Roux, the reigning Miss South Africa, withdrew from the competition just days before it began, citing health concerns. Additionally, Miss USA, Alma Cooper of Michigan, did not place as a semi-finalist, marking the first time in over a decade that a U.S. contestant failed to make the top tier.

Victoria Theilvig’s win brings the crown back to Denmark, marking a new chapter in the Miss Universe legacy as she prepares to represent the organization in the year ahead.
