Meeting Between Army Chief and Police-RAB Heads, Decision for Strong Measures

A meeting was held today between newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Moinul Islam, Director General of RAB AKM Shahidur Rahman, and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Moinul Hasan with the Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman. The meeting, held at the Army Headquarters, was attended by the heads of the Navy and Air Force.

During the meeting, the heads of all the armed forces and law enforcement agencies decided to take a strong stance to end the ongoing anarchy, arson, and destructive activities across the country. This decision was communicated through a text message sent by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate in the afternoon. The message stated that the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies have resolved to maintain a strong position to ensure stability in the country by ending the ongoing chaos, arson, and destructive activities.

In the wake of student and public protests, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the position of Prime Minister last Monday and left the country. Since then, there have been incidents of attacks, vandalism, and arson in various parts of the country. Both Awami League leaders and activists, as well as various police stations and minority communities, have been targeted. Additionally, incidents of robbery in different areas of Dhaka at night have caused fear among residents.

After the government's fall, there were incidents of attacks on various police stations, leading some police officers to refrain from their duties. Following the appointment of Md. Moinul Islam as the new IGP, he has instructed police officers to resume their duties at their respective workplaces by this evening.

The ISPR press release also mentioned that discussions were held during the meeting with the army chief and other force heads about starting operations in all police stations across the country with the help of the army within the next 24 hours.
