Chief Advisor Pays Tribute to Martyrs at the National Memorial




Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, paid tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar. On Friday (August 9), around 10 a.m., the Chief Advisor first paid his respects alone at the memorial. Following this, he was joined by the remaining 13 advisors to pay their respects together. They braved the rain to do so, with members of the law enforcement agencies providing umbrellas.

At this time, a distinguished contingent from the three armed forces presented a guard of honor to the Chief Advisor, and a mournful tune was played on the bugle. After the tribute, the Chief Advisor signed the visitors' book at the memorial.

Earlier in the morning, he traveled by helicopter from Tejgaon in the capital to the memorial in Savar.

After paying his respects at the memorial, the Nobel laureate economist will head back to Dhaka. He will visit the Shaheed Minar at Dhaka Medical College to pay homage to the language martyrs.

Previously, on Thursday (August 8), after 9:15 p.m., Dr. Muhammad Yunus took the oath of office as Chief Advisor of the interim government at Bangabhaban. Following this, the other advisors also took their oaths, and Dr. Yunus delivered a speech to the nation.
