Resignation of Attorney General A.M. Amin Uddin


 

Attorney General A.M. Amin Uddin has submitted his resignation letter to the President, citing personal reasons. The resignation letter was submitted through the Attorney General’s office today, Wednesday afternoon.


Administrative Officer of the Attorney General's office, Md. Nasir Uddin, told Prothom Alo that the resignation letter arrived around 12:30 PM. The letter has been sent to the Ministry of Law.


Following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last Monday amid student and public protests, she left the country for India. Sheikh Hasina’s resignation marked the end of her consecutive 15-and-a-half-year rule, which began with her election in December 2008.


A.M. Amin Uddin was appointed as Attorney General on October 8, 2020, succeeding the late Attorney General Mahbubey Alam. He assumed the role as the 16th Attorney General of the country on October 11 of the same year.


Earlier, on Tuesday, Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed also submitted his resignation letter to the President. Regarding his resignation, he told Prothom Alo that he resigned due to personal and health reasons.


Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, a Supreme Court lawyer, was appointed as Additional Attorney General by the President on January 24, 2021.
