Bollywood movie Stree 2 has been making waves at the box office since its release. Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the film entered the 200 crore club by the end of its third day. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Stree 2 had a spectacular start on August 15, signaling its dominance with a strong opening day.
As per a report from trade website Sacnilk, the movie earned 135 crore rupees in India on its third day of release, with its worldwide total reaching 188 crore rupees.
On its first day, *Stree 2* surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's *Pathaan*, which had earned 60 crore rupees. The horror-comedy genre film had set records with advance bookings, hinting at its potential box office success. The first day's earnings for *Pathaan* were 55 crore rupees.
Shah Rukh Khan's other film, *Jawan*, which earned 65.5 crore rupees, currently holds the top spot. Stree 2 is positioned just behind *Jawan* with its 60 crore rupees earnings on the first day.
The film is also on track to set records for first-week earnings. Both audiences and critics have praised Stree 2, noting the continuation of the horror and comedy elements from the first installment, as well as the quality of its VFX.
The original Stree, which released in 2018 and starred Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, earned 6.82 crore rupees on its first day and reached 60.39 crore rupees in its first week. It became a superhit in India with a total earnings of 129 crore rupees, leading to anticipation for its sequel.
The sequel, directed by Amar Kaushik, features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and several other stars. Varun Dhawan makes a special cameo appearance.
