After the bodies of six Israeli hostages were discovered in a tunnel in southern Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to find and hold accountable the Hamas leaders responsible. In a statement on Sunday, September 1, Netanyahu said that Israel will not rest until those responsible are apprehended. This news was reported by Al Jazeera.
In his statement, Netanyahu also said, "We will find them and bring them to justice." He added that Israel is committed to negotiating for the release of the remaining hostages, but noted that those who killed the hostages are unwilling to engage in such negotiations.
The Hostage and Missing Family Forum has argued that Netanyahu should take responsibility for the deaths of the hostages.
In response to Netanyahu's statement, the families and supporters of the hostages have urged, "Take responsibility for your mistakes. Take responsibility for the sabotage."
A senior Hamas leader stated on Sunday that the hostages were killed as a result of ongoing Israeli airstrikes. Earlier this year, seven hostages were killed due to Israeli bombings in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Israel reported on Saturday that the bodies of the six hostages were found inside an underground tunnel in the Rafah area.
