What to Know About Laura Loomer, Trump's Ally with Controversial Views

Far-right activist Laura Loomer has been a notable presence alongside former President Donald Trump during his recent campaign events. Despite Trump's claims that he is unaware of Loomer's controversial views, her growing involvement with his campaign has sparked concern within the GOP.

Why It Matters

Trump’s association with Loomer has raised alarms among some Republicans who fear it signals a deeper entrenchment in conspiracy theories and extremist rhetoric, as reported by Axios’ Sophia Cai and Alex Thompson.

 Loomer’s Relationship with Trump

Loomer, who maintains she is not formally working for Trump, frequently appears at Mar-a-Lago and was notably present backstage at Tuesday’s presidential debate. She traveled with Trump to New York and Pennsylvania the following day.

In her own words, Loomer described herself as a "ride or die supporter" of Trump, stating on X (formerly Twitter) that she seeks nothing in return except his victory. She mentioned her admiration for Trump began while she was allegedly working undercover in Hillary Clinton's campaign to expose alleged misconduct.

Trump addressed questions about Loomer’s role and her controversial views during a press conference in California, referring to her as a "supporter" and asserting that he does not control her statements. He admitted to knowing little about her conspiracy theories but stated on Truth Social that he disagrees with her views while acknowledging her frustration with the "Radical Left."

 Controversial Views and Conspiracy Theories

Loomer, who has openly identified as a "proud Islamophobe," has promoted a range of conspiracy theories. These include claims that the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job" and that President Biden orchestrated an assassination attempt against Trump. Recently, she spread a false narrative about Haitian immigrants eating pets—an idea also floated by Trump.

Loomer, who boasts 1.2 million followers on X, has made derogatory remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that if Harris were elected president, the White House would be negatively impacted in various ways.

 Rise to Prominence

Loomer gained notoriety working with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on the Infowars platform and other right-wing media. Her controversial tactics include a 2015 stunt where she pretended to be a Clinton supporter to trap campaign workers into illegal cash donations. Her social media presence is marked by inflammatory posts about immigrants and other groups, as well as false claims about staged school shootings.

Her bans from major social media platforms—such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram—for violating policies on hateful conduct and misinformation have only increased her visibility and notoriety, despite the loss of large followings.
