Olivia Munn, 44, and John Mulaney, 42, have expanded their family, announcing the birth of their second child, a daughter, born via gestational surrogate on September 14. The couple shared the news on Instagram on Sunday, September 22, introducing their little girl, Méi June Mulaney.
Munn expressed her deep emotions in her post, sharing a heartfelt message about the experience of using a surrogate. "I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter," she wrote. "When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding. Words cannot express my gratitude for how she kept our baby safe for 9 months." She proudly added, "Méi means plum in Chinese, and she’s my little dragon for making the journey to be with us."
The post included several touching family photos, including a close-up of baby Méi and a family shot of Munn, Mulaney, their son Malcolm, and their new daughter overlooking the ocean.
Mulaney also shared the news on Instagram with a playful note. "Méi June Mulaney came into the world on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon," he joked, adding, "We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much." He shared a video of their daughter adorably spitting up on him as he burped her.
Méi joins their first child, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, 2, whom the couple welcomed in November 2021. Their growing family’s news comes just months after Munn and Mulaney tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony officiated by Munn's *The Newsroom* co-star, Sam Waterston, in July 2024.
Munn’s journey to this moment was not without challenges. In April, she revealed to *PEOPLE* that she had undergone a difficult breast cancer battle, including four surgeries, a double mastectomy, and medically induced menopause. Despite the hardships, she focused on her son Malcolm for comfort and strength. "When I’m with him, it’s the only time I don’t think about being sick. I’m just so happy with him," Munn said.
Throughout her treatment, Munn also took steps to preserve her fertility, undergoing egg retrieval after freezing her eggs twice before. Now, the couple celebrates the arrival of their second child, cherishing these precious moments as a family of four.
