Hailie Jade Mathers found a sneaky way to keep her pregnancy under wraps with a little help from her best friend, Brittany Ednie, before her father, Eminem, made the news public.
On a recent episode of their *Just A Little Shady* podcast, Hailie and Brittany shared the clever plan they used during a wedding to keep her pregnancy a secret. Brittany revealed she “covered” for Hailie by secretly drinking all of her alcoholic beverages at the event, so no one would suspect anything.
“I need to defend myself now that this is public knowledge," Brittany joked on the podcast. "At the wedding, people didn’t know she was pregnant, so I was drinking her drinks to keep the secret."
Hailie explained that Brittany discreetly took her drinks when no one was looking, creating the illusion that she was still drinking, even though she wasn’t. "She really took one for the team," Hailie said with a laugh.
Before this, Hailie’s now-husband, Evan McClintock, had been quietly sipping on her drinks during social events to help maintain the secrecy, but at the wedding, he wasn’t always nearby.
However, the charade didn't last long, as Hailie's father, Eminem, revealed her pregnancy weeks later in his music video for “Temporary.” In the heartfelt video, Hailie surprises her dad by handing him a Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” on the back and showing him her sonogram.
The expecting couple, who got engaged in 2023, tied the knot in May 2024, with Eminem walking his daughter down the aisle. Hailie, Eminem’s only biological child, has been open about her close relationship with her father, who also adopted two children from Kim Scott's family.
