Bethany Hamilton Pleads for Help After Her 3-Year-Old Nephew’s Drowning Incident.

Pro surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton is urgently seeking help for her family following a tragic accident involving her 3-year-old nephew, Andrew. On October 12, Hamilton shared that her nephew had been hospitalized after a drowning incident and is in need of specialized medical care.

"HELP," the 34-year-old athlete posted on Instagram, alongside a picture of Andrew holding a surfboard. "My precious nephew was medivaced to Kapiolani in Oahu this morning after drowning last night. He still has a heartbeat and fight in him."

Hamilton, who survived a life-changing shark attack in 2003, called on her followers and the community for help, emphasizing the importance of expert medical support. "We are devastated. But I know how critical proper medical care is for survival, and we are asking for help from anyone who can provide information on how we can give Andrew the best chance."

Her brother Noah, Andrew’s father, also made a plea for prayers and shared more details about the incident. "Join us in prayer for my brother’s youngest son Andrew," Noah wrote on Facebook. "He’s 3.5, a strong and resilient kid, and an amazing swimmer. He was found unresponsive in shallow water in a bathtub. His vitals were enough to get him flown to Oahu for treatment."

Bethany later updated her post to share that the family had been in touch with Dr. Paul Harch, a hyperbaric oxygen therapy specialist in New Orleans known for treating drowning victims.

On October 13, Bethany expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support, asking for continued prayers. "Please pray for Andrew and all his loved ones," she wrote. "We are doing our best through this difficult time. Much love."
