Position Overview
The U.S. Army Civilian Human Resources Agency at Fort Greely, Alaska, is seeking a qualified and motivated Human Resources Assistant for our Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) team. This role supports a broad array of human resources activities with a primary focus on recruitment and staffing processes. The Human Resources Assistant is integral to onboarding new talent and providing support in various HR functions to ensure smooth operation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Staffing: Coordinate with hiring managers to address position vacancies, manage candidate recruitment, extend job offers, conduct pre-employment screenings, and facilitate pre-employment processes.
- Personnel Tracking: Use automated tracking systems to manage personnel action requests and update the status of actions. Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity.
- Onboarding Coordination: Schedule entrance dates for new employees upon completing pre-employment requirements, prepare hiring paperwork, and provide new employee orientation.
- Administrative Support: Support general HR administrative functions, ensuring compliance with established policies and guidelines. Assist with employee records management and maintain HR systems as needed.
Requirements for Employment
- Conditions:
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Occasional travel for training may be required.
- Must meet qualification and background check requirements.
- Enrollment in direct deposit and the possession of a valid Social Security card are required.
- Must complete CHRA NAF Career Path I within 18 months of placement.
Qualifications
For NF-02 Level:
- Six months of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience in HR that demonstrates proficiency in performing various HR tasks and using HR systems.
For NF-03 Level:
- Minimum six months of professional experience in an HR role with experience in recruitment, staffing, and using automated systems such as USA Staffing, PeopleSoft, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with multiple HR information systems.
- Highly Preferred: Prior experience in an NAF Human Resources office, specifically in recruitment and placement, will be given preferential consideration.
Additional Information on Salary and Location
- Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA): NF-03 positions are eligible for COLA, based on location. For Alaska, the current COLA rate is 2.01%, with adjustments subject to change.
- Salary is determined by grade level and geographic location.
