Dave Portnoy Reacts to BFF Co-Host Brianna Chickenfry's Breakup from Zach Bryan with Sharp Taylor Swift Reference.

Dave Portnoy is standing up for his BFF podcast co-host, Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia, after her recent breakup with country singer Zach Bryan. The Barstool Sports founder took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday, October 22, to show his support in a rather pointed way—by sharing a Taylor Swift song.

“Dedicating this to @BChickenfry,” Portnoy, 47, wrote, along with a clip of Swift’s track, “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. The song, which many Swift fans believe is about her short-lived romance with musician Matty Healy, has some sharp lyrics aimed at a former lover.

Portnoy’s post came shortly after Bryan, 28, addressed the split in his Instagram Stories. “Brianna and I have broken up,” the singer wrote, adding, “She’s loved me unconditionally for a long time, and I will always be grateful for that.” He also noted he’s had a tough year and felt it would be best for them to go their separate ways.

The pair had started dating in July 2023 after meeting at the ACM Awards in May, but LaPaglia, 25, revealed she was blindsided by Bryan’s sudden announcement. She expressed her shock on her own Instagram Stories, saying, “I’m feeling really blindsided right now… I’ll be taking some time off social media to heal.”

Later, in an emotional three-minute video posted to her Plan Bri UnCut account, LaPaglia shared more about the breakup, explaining she hadn’t been given any warning before Bryan’s post. “How can you give every ounce of yourself to someone and then be discarded in just a few days?” she said tearfully.

Portnoy’s Swift reference is seen by many fans as a direct dig at Bryan, with the song’s lyrics criticizing a lover who seemed committed but ultimately left without warning. Meanwhile, LaPaglia is taking time to process the breakup, thanking fans for their support as she begins her healing journey.
