Stumped by today’s NYT Mini Crossword? If you're curious about Bowen Yang's role as J.D. Vance or unsure of The Little Mermaid's name, don’t worry—I’ve got all the answers you need!
The NYT Mini is a quick, bite-sized version of the larger New York Times crossword puzzle. Most days, the grid is a simple 5x5, but occasionally it’s larger, especially on weekends. Unlike the full-sized crossword, the Mini is free to play on the New York Times website or the NYT Games app, though an NYT Games subscription is required to access the archive of previous puzzles.
To save you the hassle of getting stuck, here are the answers for Thursday, October 17 (spoilers ahead!):
Across Clues and Answers:
- 1 Across: Human's cousin – APE
- 4 Across: Word after party or prescription – DRUG
- 5 Across: With the circled letters (literally!), two options when riding an elevator – GOING
- 6 Across: Gobsmacks – AWES
- 7 Across: Show on which Bowen Yang plays J.D. Vance, for short – SNL
Down Clues and Answers:
- 1 Down: The Little Mermaid's name – ARIEL
- 2 Down: Plays on words – PUNS
- 3 Down: ___ + flour = pasta dough – EGG
- 4 Down: OK (with), informally – DOWN
- 5 Down: Electric vehicle's lack – GAS
I completed today's puzzle in 1:07, which was a bit slower than usual for me. I breezed through APE and DRUG but stumbled over GOING and AWES, which slowed me down. The circled letters clue threw me off for a moment, but I managed to wrap up with SNL and the Down clues.
