Vue was reported missing on February 20 by his caregiver, Jesse Vang, who was living in Two Rivers. According to prosecutors, the child's mother, Katrina Baur, had sent Elijah to live with Vang, her boyfriend, as a form of discipline.
Baur and Vang have been in custody since shortly after Vue's disappearance and both face child neglect charges due to the poor living conditions and treatment of the child.
After an extensive search that lasted over seven months, the case saw a breakthrough on September 7. A man preparing his land for hunting season discovered human remains near Camp Manitou, a Girl Scout camp in Manitowoc County. Those remains were later identified as belonging to Elijah Vue.
The investigation has been ongoing since Vue’s disappearance, and the police update is expected to provide more details regarding the case.
Katrina Baur is scheduled to appear in court for a status conference on October 22, while the status of Jesse Vang’s case will be reviewed on November 6.
