Apple and Amazon Partner to Offer Apple TV+ via Prime Video .

Starting later this month, Prime Video subscribers will be able to sign up for Apple TV+ directly through the Amazon platform. While the specifics of the business deal between the two companies remain undisclosed, it’s likely that Apple sees this partnership as an opportunity to expand its audience by reaching Prime Video users who can now access Apple TV+ as an add-on.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, highlighted this intention in a press release from Amazon: “We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible. We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options.”

Amazon, for its part, emphasized the convenience for users, citing "one billing relationship, in one convenient app" as a compelling reason for Prime members to add Apple TV+ to their subscriptions.

Convenience Over Expansion

Interestingly, this partnership does not extend Apple TV+ availability beyond its current markets. The service is already accessible wherever Prime Video is offered. However, it could simplify the subscription process for potential users who may find subscribing through Amazon more straightforward than doing so via Apple.

Many consumers mistakenly believe they need Apple’s hardware, like the Apple TV set-top box, to access Apple TV+ content on their TVs. In reality, the service is widely available through the Apple TV app across smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and web browsers.

 Android Experience and Pricing

One notable advantage of subscribing to Apple TV+ via Prime Video is the improved experience for Android users, as it offers seamless access through the Prime Video app. However, if Apple aimed to further enhance its Android user experience, it could consider releasing the Apple TV app on Android devices directly, giving it more control over the interface and features.

The price for Apple TV+ via Prime Video will remain the same as it is through Apple—$9.99 per month. Prime Video itself costs between $8.99 and $17.98 per month, depending on the subscription tier.
