The post also included clips from the original 2001 *Princess Diaries* movie, featuring Hathaway's iconic line, "Shut up!"
The upcoming film, reported by *Variety*, has been in development since 2022. It will be directed by Adele Lim, known for writing *Crazy Rich Asians*. The project will serve as a prequel and the third installment in the series, following the success of *The Princess Diaries* (2001) and *The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement* (2004). Lim expressed her excitement, stating, "As a diehard fan of the original *Princess Diaries*, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing this third iteration to life."
