Haley Lu Richardson Joins Emilia Clarke in Peacock’s Espionage Thriller 'PONIES'.

Peacock has announced that Haley Lu Richardson, known for her role in The White Lotus, will star alongside Emilia Clarke in the upcoming espionage thriller series PONIES. Richardson will take on the role of Twila, a tough and fearless small-town woman with a sharp edge.

Set in Moscow during 1977, PONIES follows the story of two secretaries, termed "PONIES" (an intelligence slang for “persons of no interest”), working at the American Embassy. Their quiet, mundane lives are shattered when their husbands die under suspicious circumstances in the Soviet Union. The pair, Bea (played by Clarke), a highly educated, Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants, and Twila, are thrust into a world of espionage as they become CIA operatives. Together, they dive deep into a Cold War conspiracy, determined to uncover the truth behind their husbands' mysterious deaths.

The series is co-created by Susanna Fogel (The Flight Attendant, The Spy Who Dumped Me) and David Iserson (Mr. Robot, New Girl). Fogel will serve as executive producer, director, and co-writer, with Iserson and Mike Daniels (Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, The Village) as executive producers and showrunners. Emilia Clarke, who also stars in the series, is executive producing alongside Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror, Station Eleven) under her Pacesetter Productions banner. Alison Mo Massey from Pacesetter will co-executive produce with Katherine Bridle.

PONIES is being produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and promises to deliver a gripping narrative filled with intrigue, espionage, and a deep dive into the political tensions of the Cold War era.
