Eva Longoria on Her Decision to Move Abroad: "This Chapter in My Life is Done".

Eva Longoria has made a significant lifestyle change by choosing to live outside the United States. In a recent interview with Marie Claire, the Desperate Housewives star shared that she, her husband José Bastón, and their six-year-old son Santiago have left Los Angeles as their primary home base. The family now divides their time between Spain and Mexico, stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight.

Longoria explained that her decision was influenced by growing concerns about the state of the U.S., describing it as increasingly "a scary place." The results of recent presidential elections only deepened her apprehensions about the country's future.

Acknowledging her privilege, Longoria expressed empathy for those who don’t have the option to relocate. "I get to escape and go somewhere," she said. "Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness are for them."

Despite living abroad, Longoria remains politically active. She spent part of her summer campaigning for the Democratic ticket, aiming to increase Latino voter turnout. Reflecting on her advocacy work, she said, “I would like to think our fight continues.”

Originally from Texas, Longoria noted that her desire to leave the U.S. began even before the pandemic, driven by a feeling that the country was changing in unsettling ways. Ultimately, she felt it was time for a new chapter in her life. "It just feels like this chapter is done now," she said.

Longoria has continued her work in the entertainment industry from abroad. She recently starred in and executive produced the series Land of Women and made guest appearances in six episodes of Only Murders in the Building.
