Olivia Rodrigo has a unique way of assessing potential dates, and it seems Grimes agrees with her perspective, even if it subtly shades her ex, Elon Musk.
In an Instagram interview with Netflix, the “Vampire” singer shared one of her key dating “red flags” while showcasing signature t-shirts from her GUTS World Tour. Holding up a shirt that read “Dump Him,” a nod to Britney Spears, Rodrigo revealed, “I have this very oddly specific question I ask on first dates: Would you ever want to go to space? If they say yes, I don’t date them.” With a laugh, she added, “I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. It’s just weird.”
The quirky insight quickly resonated with her fans online, sparking lively discussions. Among those chiming in was singer Grimes, who shares three children with Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX founder. Grimes reposted the clip on social media platform X, writing, “It’s true. Only women should be going to space.”
Musk, undeterred, continues to pursue his spacefaring dreams, recently stating on X, “SpaceX hopes to offer travel to Mars to anyone who wants to go, bearing in mind that it will be like a long sea voyage in centuries past — dangerous and uncomfortable, but great adventure!”
Grimes and Musk’s relationship, which began in 2018, produced three children: son X AE A-Xii, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus. The pair split in 2022, and in 2023, Grimes referred to their relationship as “the best internship ever,” praising Musk’s innovative leadership at SpaceX despite their separation. “People don’t like talking about Elon, but being there for the SpaceX journey was incredible,” she said. “It’s a master class in leadership and engineering.”
Meanwhile, Rodrigo’s love life has been in the spotlight, with rumors linking her to Enola Holmes star Louis Partridge. The two were seen together in New York last December, sparking dating speculation, and Partridge has supported Rodrigo on her tour.
