We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role will provide analytical support to senior executives, program managers, and leaders across our globally distributed organization. Your work will help shape strategic financial planning and contribute to our goal of enhancing access to free knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Business Partnership:

  • Collaborate with digital fundraising and revenue analytics teams to understand revenue forecasts and scenarios.
  • Assist department leaders and budget managers in aligning resource plans with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate budgeting, financial modeling, expense forecasting, and other planning processes.
  • Build strong relationships across a globally distributed organization and act as a trusted financial advisor to departmental leadership.

Business Analytics:

  • Analyze strategic revenue plans, assess investment opportunities, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis for revenue-generating teams, such as the API business and Wikimedia Endowment.
  • Evaluate and provide insights on global grantmaking programs, assisting with multi-year financial planning.
  • Execute month-end close variance reporting, projections, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Utilize financial systems like Workday Adaptive to provide operational analysis and support for budget managers.
  • Develop and maintain reporting dashboards for financial planning, program evaluation, and month-end close processes.

Project and Process Management:

  • Support strategic cross-functional projects within the Finance team and the broader organization.
  • Lead and manage various financial projects as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Business Analytics, Accounting, or Program Management. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
    • Proficiency in financial tools and systems; experience with Workday Adaptive Planning is preferred.
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across distributed teams.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented with strong time management and prioritization skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of non-profit fundraising strategies and financial management.
  • Familiarity with free culture, free software, or online rights movements.
  • Experience with financial business intelligence and reporting tools.
